Max shifted back into a human and held her hand. “I’ll protect you. I’ll make sure he never does anything to you. I don’t care if I’m hurt. I care about you.”

Max shook his head. “I’m a wolf. I have instincts. I’m pretty sure I can beat him. Please let me do this for you.” He begged.
“Max, i don’t want you to get hurt”
“I can handle it. Look.” He wiped his eyes. A little bit of makeup came off, revealing a slightly purple eye and the other eye a bit darker. Then he wiped his cheek, revealing a scar. “I put up with this daily. I’ll be fine. Promise.”
“Max….i’m so sorry” Badger said gently, but still shook her head. “I still don’t want you to get hurt because of me”
“I’ve gotten hurt over people many times. Please. I wanna help.”
“Why? Why do you care so much?”
“Because…” he sighed and gathered some courage. “…I love you, Badger. Not as a friend, either. We’ve been through so much…” he held her hand. “…and I want to get closer with you. I hate seeing you like this.” He kissed her cheek.
Badger was caught of guard by what he had said, but smiled. “i-i love you too, Max…..and we can deal with Lucian i suppose”

Max hugged her. “Maybe later. I just want to make sure you’re alright first.”

Max smiled. “I just felt the need to show you how much I love you.” He kissed her back again and slowly moved his hands to her breasts.
